Effective music ministry can well be described as a delicate balancing act. While great vocal performances and compelling lyrics are a must, CCM Programmers and listeners are also often looking to see if an artists lifestyle, motives and connection to the Body of Christ match up to the image. For the artist himself, daily choices are made that affect creativity, family cohesion, church accountability and living life as a disciple of Jesus.Singer-songwriter David Bush seems to have found the sweet spot in connecting well-produced and heartfelt songs with a fruitful ministry focus. One of a handful of independent artists that enjoys broad airplay on AC and Inspirational radio nationwide, David's commercial appeal has grown alongside a vibrant and growing church-based worship and music ministry.David left his native Southern California for the Heartland years ago, but from the improbable ministry base of Des Moines, Iowa God has provided a bumper crop of opportunity that continues to grow.Early national songwriting awards from the Gospel Music Association led to an indie recording that gained regional airplay and regional concert invitations. Two more CD projects followed (In Transit and Change the World) that ushered in a national radio and concert platform including 3 Top 20 singles. David's recordings have garnered Production credits most signed artists would welcome John Andrew Schreiner (Fernando Ortega, Crystal Lewis, Michael W. Smith, Third Day, The Gettys) and Jeff Dykhouse (Paul Baloche, Donna Summer, Patti Cabrera). The past several years have brought recording opportunities with artists as diverse as Fernando Ortega, Scott Krippayne, Jonathan Martin (The Martins) and Michael O'Brien. In concerts across the country, David has shared the stage with Avalon, Todd Agnew, Jamie Jamgochian, Joy Williams, Rend Collective Experiment and many others. With each single David has released, more stations have found room on their playlists. His last four single releases have all made the Radio and Records and/or CRW charts.While one foot may be firmly planted in the CCM music scene, another foot is firmly grounded in family and church ministry. A devoted husband and father of four boys, David is now seeing his sons enthusiastically participate in the worship life of the church as musicians, vocalists and songwriters. In the past David has served his local church as the Evangelism Director of a Gen X- focused ministry and currently serves as the Worship and Arts Pastor and is the guiding force behind a rapidly growing new contemporary service The River. It is his passion for seeing the church reach the lost and experience biblical community that fuels his latest recording, City of Refuge. The first single release from this project, More Than Ever (featuring Michael OBrien), was a call to personal and national repentance. In addition to broad airplay and a Top 25 spot on the national Inspo charts, the More Than Ever video has been promoted by Focus on the Familys CitizenLink and the Alliance Defense Fund, generating over 250,000 views on various websites and at live conferences. 6David's second single release from City of Refuge is the joyful yet poignant Sunday Afternoon. In a day when most Christ-followers experience little respite from our cultures hectic pace, Sunday Afternoon is an invitation to embrace a Sabbath rest and gain strength and perspective for our Kingdom work.

/what is point of light ministries?

Point of Light Ministries is an Iowa non-profit 501(c)(3) entity founded by David Bush in December 1995. The name of this ministry highlights David's desire to be a reflection of Christ in his sphere of influence. Point of Light underwrites David's music, allowing the focus of his activities and performances to remain on ministry impact, as opposed to money and/or entertainment. David's activities are overseen by a Board of Directors. Revenue is generated through corporate and personal contributions, product sales, offerings and honorariums.What does Point of Light seek to accomplish?In many cases, there is no discernible difference between the lives of those who claim to know and follow Christ and those who claim no faith at all. Point of Light Ministries uses music and media to challenge Christians to seek God for revival in their individual lives, families and churches, enabling them to become a point of light to those living in spiritual darkness. Through recorded music and liveperformance, Point of Light seeks to pursuade believers to:Follow Christ in every area of their livesLive with a sense of urgency and brokenness regarding our society's spiritual povertyBuild strong, Christ - centered familiesDevelop accountable relationships with other mature believersDevelop discipling relationships with younger believersIf this is a message your church or organization needs to hear in a fresh and dynamic way, please contact Point of Light and talk with us about the possibility of hosting a concert in the near future. Income is used to offset the substantial costs of developing, recording and presenting David's music and its biblical message. David is currently the only full time employee. A portion of "profits", if they are realized, are earmarked for other ministries and organizations which promote the strengthening of families and the Body of Christ. Donations to Point of Light are tax deductible.
